Cooking Up a Storm at Jimmy's BBQ Club

On a warm summer’s evening in July, some of the team at Venue Search London were invited down to a secret garden in Clapham Old Town to sample Jimmy Garcia’s infamous BBQ feast pop-up, and it definitely didn't dissapoint.
After last year’s success, Jimmy Garcia’s BBQ Club is back again this Summer, and we couldn’t wait to finally find out what all the fuss is about! The concept is simple, Jimmy has taken the traditional idea of a good old British Summer BBQ and turned it on it’s head, with a unique alfresco dining experience, with a four course tasting menu, partly cooked by the professional chefs, and partly cooked by the guests themselves. Situated in a cosy, enchanted garden setting, visitor’s young and old can interact with each other, and cook up an absolute storm!
Everything is very secretive pre-BBQ Club, only being told the address of our location just a few days before. As we arrived it was like we had stepped right out of the hustle and bustle of London and wandered straight into a beautiful hidden oasis, with wine and Prosecco in hand (it’s BYO you see!). Surrounded by cute little lanterns and fairy lights, we took our seats, and let the feast commence!
Each table has their own table-top BBQ so we could really immerse ourselves in the experience and grill our very own feast. First course was smoked goats curd salad with charred peach, a delicious dish we would never have put together ourselves, but worked perfectly! As well as charred peach, other courses included a heritage tomato salad with fennel, scallops served in pretty shells, chicken wings, beef Thai fillets, and the piece de resistance of any BBQ, toasted marshmallows and smores - delightful! Each dish was so different and creative, but complimented each course perfectly, and having the chance to grill parts of it ourselves, made it such a fun experience!
We had such a great evening at Jimmy’s BBQ Club, the relaxed and intimate vibe of the garden party, mixed with delicious, innovative food was a perfect fit and one that everyone should get to try!
