Our wonderful intern Holly Dallison looks back on her year at Venue Search London and Story Events as she returns to university to complete her final year at Bournemouth University. From 5 star venues and glamorous showcases, to assisting on events for over 1000 guests, Holly shares her favourite things about the last year.
Most Memorable Showcase
During my time at Story and Venue Search London I have been so lucky to be invited to so many amazing FAM trips and showcases. When I first started I was told it would not be all champagne and canapés, but looking back I have certainly consumed a lot! These trips have allowed me to see lots of new and exciting venues and expand my venue knowledge. One of my favourite showcases would have to be at Brooklyn bowl where we competed in the Agency Challenge. Not only did this include a chicken eating competition, we also took part in 'Rockaoke' and some of the team transformed into the Spice Girls for the battle of the bands. It was such a fun night and one I will always remember!
Top Venue
It's really hard to choose just one venue, but Tropicana has to be one of my favourites and it definitely has the fun factor. It's very rare to find such a themed venue in London and it is one that you walk into and just think wow! Who doesn't want palm trees, hammocks and a lagoon style dance floor at their event?
Favourite Event
As an intern I got to experience all parts of the company and worked 6 months as part of the Story operations team. There are so many amazing events that I assisted the event manager on whether it was a small treasure hunt or a huge university summer ball for over 1000 guests, I learnt so much at each and every one of them. One of my faves was a team building event for 250 people at Hurtwood Polo Club. This event was a huge success and guests were participating in all types of activities ranging form human football to Polo - with guests riding real horses.
Proudest Moment
I was so proud when I received my first signed contract back at Venue Search London, at first sales was not natural to me but I really threw myself into selling venues and it turns out I love it! Another favourite moment for me was our Story and Venue Search London Offsite. In March the whole company went to the beautiful Ridge Farm in Surrey to celebrate our successful year. I really enjoyed this because it just showed how much of a family Story and Venue Search London really are and how much fun we all have as a company. I also can't finish this article without mentioning the time we hosted an event and the Queen attended. She was stood right next to me - I will never forget that moment!
