Choosing where to host a corporate event in London is not simply a postcode exercise. The right neighbourhood affects who attends, how easily they arrive, what the event feels like and how far the budget will stretch.

Many companies understandably begin with a ten-minute walking radius around the office. For after-work events that convenience matters. But when the same radius has been used for several years, the choice narrows quickly. For companies wanting to keep things fresh, simply moving one or two Tube stops can often open up better-fit venues and, sometimes, better value. The City: connected, corporate and convenient

For finance, fintech, legal and professional-services audiences, the Square Mile remains the natural starting point. The style is generally classic rather than industrial or ultra-contemporary, and the budget needs to reflect the location. Waterloo and the South Bank: a practical multi-day base

For multi-day programmes, accommodation can reshape the entire budget. Waterloo and the South Bank keep guests close to central London while offering major transport connections, large hotels and straightforward access to cultural attractions. They can be a practical alternative to housing every delegate in the West End. This area suits conferences that combine meeting space, bedrooms and a London experience without making the most expensive postcode the default.

Docklands and Greenwich: scale, access and stronger value

East London's Docklands is built for scale. ExCeL London attracts major multi-day conferences, while the surrounding hotels provide useful bedroom capacity. The Jubilee line, Elizabeth line, DLR and river services make the area more accessible than its position on the map can suggest. For larger conferences, exhibitions and related dinners or receptions – particularly those being bolted on to attendance at an existing trade show, for example - searching East London venues can secure more space and better accommodation value than a tightly drawn central search.

Choose the neighbourhood around the event - not the office

The best location depends on the audience, format, finish time, accommodation needs and production plan. A walking-distance brief may still be right, but it should be a deliberate choice rather than an automatic restriction.
