The Canary Wharf Destination Day

Friday 3 February 2017

Radisson Blu Edwardian New Providence Wharf

We had the chance to spend an activity packed day with CCT Venues visiting some of Canary Wharf's best venues and hotels. While we got to see all of the fantastic event spaces, we were also entertained with boat trips, activities and a whole variety of treats!

Our Canary Wharf Destination Day started at 9.30am sharp at London Bridge Pier, where we met with our lovely hosts from CCT Venues along with a few more lucky agents. We were treated to a short cruise down the Thames on a Clipper which showed just how easy and convenient it is to get to the area from central London and were soon seated in our first venue of the day:

De Vere Canary Wharf

After a warm welcome of tea, coffee and freshly squeezed juice we embarked on our site visit of the venue, which is a dedicated meeting, training, and event venue located just a stone’s throw from Canary Wharf pier. The event rooms are flooded with natural light and are full of the latest high-tech amenities designed to welcome gatherings large and small, up to a maximum of 550 guests. We were then able to sit down and enjoy a lovely breakfast buffet of bagels, fresh fruit, pastries, yoghurt and granola which was a testament to their award winning Steam, Bake & Grill restaurant and caters for all DDR packages as well as private dinners and receptions.

Radisson Blu Edwardian New Providence Wharf

We were soon whisked off by taxi to the beautiful Radisson Blu Edwardian New Providence Wharf. Tucked away in a residential part of Blackwall, the venue was surprisingly easy to get to while still offering an exclusive and private feel within the City. We got to work off some of that breakfast with a tour of the hotel. This luxury 4* London hotel is home to 7 fully equipped business meeting rooms, including a conference suite with break-out rooms holding up to 200, as well as 169 individually designed bedrooms. Each meeting room has natural daylight plus the latest AV technology as well as a stunning conservatory and terrace overlooking the O2. This was the setting of our buffet lunch which offered a huge variety of options, from steak and sweet potato to salmon linguine with prawns. As if we weren’t full enough!

CCTV Venues Plus-South Quay

With the taxi’s ready and waiting again, we were off to our host’s venue – CCT Venues Plus South Quay. This is a newly refurbished waterside venue located in Thames Quay and is ideal for conferences, training, meetings, assessment, hospitality, exhibitions, location filming and many other events. With 26 training and conference rooms for up to 400 delegates they can accommodate a wide variety of briefs and provide in-room refreshments, private formal dining or buffet service in one of their restaurants. The team had come up with a great way for us to explore the venue, dividing us into teams and providing us with pirate treasure maps and letting us loose to collect as many hidden objects as possible with a prize at the end! Naturally, it got very competitive and was a great way to see the spaces they had to offer, while also providing a great team building activity for the whole group.

Hilton Canary Wharf

Next, it was on to The Hilton Canary Wharf which is just a two-minute walk from CCT. The hotel provides the excellent service and amenities you would expect from this great brand as well as an events team that are willing to go the extra mile. The main event space had been set up for the staff’s Christmas party that evening and it had been transformed with star cloth, candelabra and a venetian bridge complete with gondola! The Hilton offers more than 15,000 sq. ft. of flexible conference and events space with one of the largest pillar-free ballrooms in East London which can host up to 400 delegates. After the show round, we were escorted upstairs to the impressive Executive Lounge with views spanning Canary Wharf and indulged in a delicious Champagne Afternoon Tea.

Novotel Canary Wharf

Last but certainly not least, we had an exclusive tour of the soon to open Novotel Canary Wharf. This will be Accor’s flagship hotel and I can certainly see why! Towering up to 39 floors, the unique style and design of each of their 9 meeting rooms offers something quirky and different, something that the area has been crying out for. The hotel features a contemporary restaurant, bar and roof terrace with stunning 360 views across the London skyline, free WiFi, a state-of-the art gym and a pool (well worth a visit!). BOKAN is their crowning glory and this is where we finished our tour with a glass of bubbles, overlooking the skyline of Canary Wharf. An awesome way to finish a day of site visits, food, bubbles and networking - All in a day’s work at Venue Search London!
