March - Women's Month

Friday 2 March 2018

 Natural History Museum Kew Gardens

March has arrived, and with it comes some important dates celebrating women such as International Women’s Day and Mother’s Day. There is lots going on in our fair capital to celebrate both of these events and we've picked our our favourites...

1.Orchid Festival at Kew Gardens

Kew Gardens’ celebration of the orchid returns for its 23rd year and it is focusing on the plant life of Thailand. A great way to spend the day looking at these magical beautiful flowers. We just hope that you don’t get too carried away and wish that you were on holiday, we know that we would!

2.International women’s day breakfast

If flowers aren’t your thing we believe that the best way to someone’s heart is usually through their stomach! Kick back and relax at the WeWork Waterhouse Square and listen to the panel of Suitcase Magazine founder Serena Guen, author and broadcaster Emma Gannon, and founders of Stories Behind Things, Ella Denton and Jemma Finch talking about empowerment, building your own community and the politics of being a woman whilst enjoying a fulfilling breakfast.

3.Rooftop Astronomy

So, we have found out that food is key why not trying matching that with escaping the hustle and bustle of London and being amongst the stars. These stargazing sessions are in astrologist Nicholas Culpeper’s honour. Astronomy experts will be your guide to natural wines and food and most importantly the stars which you will be able to view from the Culpeper rooftop greenhouse through telescopes whilst keeping warm drinking hot booze.

4.Night at the Museum

If a relaxing night in is more the ideal scenario for the woman in your life look no further than the movie nights at the Natural History Museum. Take a seat in the glorious Hintze Hall under Hope the blue whale, where you can grab a drink or snack at the bar and get cosy for sci-fi action in the form of films such as Gravity and Star Trek.

There are so many options of what you can do during March to celebrate woman’s impact in today’s society just remember to toast those that got us here. Cheers to being strong fierce women!
