This weekend I visited the beautiful Celtic Manor, located within the lush green hills of Newport in South Wales. At only 2.5 hours’ drive from central London and 1h 50 minutes by train, Celtic Manor is a lot closer than you think and easily accessible for delegates from all over the UK and further afield. Bristol airport is a mere 40 minute drive, as is Cardiff airport... and with the toll crossing charge now scrapped, there is no excuse not to visit!
The resort hotel has conference, meeting and event space for as little as 6 delegates in their Executive Boardrooms, right up to 1500 in the beautiful Caernarfon Suite which is a ballroom style venue with rich furnishings, traditional features, retractable chandeliers and the ability to divide into 6 smaller spaces. Nothing is too much trouble at Celtic Manor and the famous Welsh hospitality and welcome really comes across throughout the resort from reception to the operational team.
The hotel had arranged a number of activities for us to experience, all available on site. From the outdoor and active - Gun Dog Handling, Segways, Clay Pidgeon Shooting, Falconry etc, to the indoor and intimate - Chocolate Making, Gin Blending and Sausage Making with personalised aprons! With so many activities to choose from you are sure to find something for everyone.
On site you can also find a collection of stunning hunter lodges which accommodate up to 8 guests per lodge with kitchen facilities and en suite bathrooms in every bedroom – perfect for incentive trips or a more exclusive style of accommodation for your guests.
We also had the pleasure of exclusive access to the ICC Wales – the brand new and unparalleled Convention Centre currently being built on the Celtic Manor site. The visually stunning slate and glass building will be able to accommodate over 5,000 delegates with 2,000 on site car parking spaces and will bring the outdoors in by giving direct access to the woodland where delegates can grab some fresh air, or even take time out in one of the hanging tree pods complete with WiFi!
Opening in Q3 of 2019, The ICC Wales is one to watch and, together with the Celtic Manor Resort, offers fierce competition for any corporate teams next event!
