With the UK’s second lockdown well and truly underway Christmas is definitely going to be different this year. Some of our favourite hotels and venues create beautiful displays each Christmas which makes the City and magical place during the Christmas season.

Unfortunately the majority of the London hotels and venues remain closed and so with that in mind we wanted to take a look back at some of London’s best Christmas Trees.

1. Claridge's

Claridge's always has an iconic Christmas display and is a stunning place to visit in Mayfair during Christmas. In the past they have worked with designers such as Christian Louboutin, Burberry, McQueen and Dolce and Gabbana to name a few.

2. St Pancras International

Ever the anticipated display, the London station unveiled their 2020 display earlier in November. This year's tree is in partnership with the instagrammable cafe EL&N and has been dubbed “The Tree of Hope”. Draped with ribbon which has been printed with quotes of love, hope and empathy from team members of key workers including NHS, Royal Mail and Imperial college. Previous year’s trees have been partnered with brands such as Fortnum & Mason, Disney and Tiffany & Co.

3. Covent Garden

Standing 60ft tall, the Christmas Tree inside Covent Garden’s iconic Piazza took more than 300 hours to install, covered in 30,000 lights and giant baubles. Their official switch on took place on 9th November 2020, what is normally quite an event was much quieter this year. Once the festive season is over the tree will be recycled to make woodchips.

4. Somerset House

Each year, Skate at Somerset House transforms the courtyard at this iconic London venue into its very own Winter Wonderland. Their 40ft tree takes centre stage as the backdrop to the ice skating experience.

5. Annabel’s

Anything more than traditional, private members club Annabel’s goes above and beyond for Christmas. Each year the Mayfair club creates a truly instagrammable spot by creating a giant tree outside their door, covering almost the entire building. 2019’s tree was an extravagant white tree covered in lights.

6. Trafalgar Square

Each year since 1947, Trafalgar Square's Christmas Tree has been gifted by the people of Norway, the gift is in gratitude for Britain's support for Norway during World War II. The tree is around 60 ft tall and decorated in vertical strings of light, which is the traditional Norwegian way.

7. The Dorchester

Christmas at The Dorchester is filled with atmosphere, there are lights sparkling alongside majestic trees and sometimes even carolers. They keep their tree and decor quite traditional and feels quintessentially British.
