Despite an encouraging level of interest in live events after the June 21st final lockdown release date, there is broad industry agreement that virtual and hybrid events are here to stay, even long after we return to live venues over the coming months, with clear benefits to event hosts including sustainability, reach and cost. With the ongoing uncertainties around future lockdowns and pandemics, organisers must retain the ability to pivot booked events from live to hybrid or fully virtual at relatively short notice. So, in addition to negotiating flexible terms with venues, buyers must ensure that their chosen venue and production partner have the capability to enable fast live streaming at a reasonable cost, if required.
We are having some great conversations with many of our loyal clients about getting back to in person events over the coming months, whether it be a long-awaited summer reunion party, and autumn conference or a Christmas Party. And, whilst we are loving the virtual world, we can’t wait to get back to meeting clients in person and planning live events in some of our countries amazing venues later this year.
And finally, there is some debate around whether in-person site visits are currently permitted under the guidelines. Our interpretation of this is that they are permitted under the “Essential Business Meetings” clause in the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport rules and therefore they can take place if done safely and where a virtual show round is not deemed enough to help our clients make decisions now about event bookings later in the year.
