A Hidden Gem: Hilton London Bankside

Tucked away on a hidden side street in Southwark, the Hilton London Bankside is a smart and modern prime-spot hotel, boasting 292 bedrooms, two restaurants and bars along with an impressive indoor swimming pool.
VSL had the pleasure of being invited to this stylish property, situated on London’s popular South Bank, along with a delicious continental breakfast served in the swanky OXBO Bankside restaurant.
This contemporary venue can host a range of events across several unique events spaces. There are 14 meeting rooms, with the opportunity to either divide or open the space depending on style and preference. It is worth mentioning one meeting room in particular: The Agora. Derived from the Greek for ‘gathering place’, this sensory room has been designed to enhance and encourage creativity. With colourful walls and interactive resources, every detail has been purposefully featured to inspire those gathering there – a ‘push for creativity’ button releases scented air, designed to stimulate the imagination… simply fabulous if you ask me! Hilton London Bankside partnered with Bombas & Parr to create this truly unique space, providing the opportunity for creative minds, corporate personnel and professionals, to come together and enjoy a room fully serviced for inspiration.
Although, in my opinion the real star of the show at this property is the Bankside Ballroom. At 843sqm, this enormous space is beautifully designed to be entirely versatile whilst remaining elegant and stylish. Accessed via a grand sweeping marble staircase with gorgeous brass details, the multi-award winning space can hold an impressive 650 theatre and banquet style, or 700 for a reception; perfect for any dinner, award’s ceremony, conference or large attendance meeting. Again, the opportunity to divide the ballroom into 3 smaller sections is possible, with fully equip AV and screens in each space. As well as the option to include the balcony and foyer space, which would then accommodate up to 1000 guests!
Aside from the impressive event spaces, Hilton London Bankside can accommodate and reserve up to 200 rooms for an event, which allows guests the opportunity to stay overnight, should they wish to. Guest rooms are stylish and sleek, they do the job and they do it well. It was however, noticeable how large even entry level rooms were at this property, due to the V shape style of the building.
Additionally, guests have the option to dine at the hotel’s sleek and stylish eatery, OXBO or the opportunity for a cocktail at the hotel’s bar, The Distillery; both vibrant and contemporary spaces. The bar features an outside area adjacent to the side of the hotel, providing a terrace like feel; a perfect space for a summer party perhaps!
One final unique and impressive point to mention, is the hotel’s commitment to sustainability and helping to reduce their carbon footprint. Aside from housing the UK’s only all ‘vegan’ bedroom, the Hilton London Bankside keep and tend to bees onsite. Four small beehives sit at the end of a small garden space on the 4th floor of the hotel, which is definitely worth a look if you are ever staying or visiting this simply fabulous property.
