Andaz in Wonderland!

The team at Venue Search London jumped at the chance to fall down the rabbit hole at the launch of the five star hotels newly refurbished Ballroom last week.
The 1901 restaurant at the Andaz Hotel has always been a great space to hire for events from 100-250 guests, and due to its increased popularity the hotel decided to restore its Ballroom to its original glory and they had one hell of a party to celebrate!
The concept was ‘Andaz in Wonderland’, a twisted take on the classic Alice in Wonderland, a great way to show everyone how the space can be transformed with theming and production into anything you can dream up. As we arrived, we were welcomed by a host of white rabbits and were treated to delicious cocktails, which had the look of a mysterious potion with the words “drink me” wrapped around it. Then we entered the main ballroom and were blown away by how different it looked. The signature dome stained glass celling is still very much in place, but that is all that is recognisable post-refurbishment. The space now takes on more of a Ballroom feel, taking it back to its grade II listed routes with the large white pillars giving a sense of grandeur to the room. It was also clear to see how it is an extremely flexible space, with a mix of traditional and modern features, lending itself well if you are bringing in a lot of theming. When we walked in, we were transported to a stunning, twisted Wonderland; bright lights, giant flowers, large teapots and white rabbits filled the room with food stations in every corner for guests to explore. From savoury canapés and mini burgers to dessert stations with macaroons and chocolate mousse teacups, the catering was delicious and really showcased how creative the in-house caterers at the hotel can be.
As we settled in, the party really got started and our compere for the evening took centre stage and introduced us to a variety of entertainment acts. From a fire eating rabbit to a whole host of dancers, including a burlesque Cheshire cat (never thought we would say that!), all of which entertained us throughout the evening and kept us feeling curious as to what could possibly pop up on stage next!
‘Andaz in Wonderland’ was an absolute feast for all of the senses, and a great way to re-launch the 1901 Ballroomand show us the endless possibilities!
