 Upper Painted Hall Undercrofts-ORNC

VSL are lucky enough to be invited to some amazing new openings and re-launches and the The Painted Hall at The Old Royal Naval College was no exception. We took a trip down the River Thames on a Thames Clipper and were stepping into a masterpiece in no time!

The Painted Hall at The Old Royal Naval College has been a hidden gem for years now (not to mention hidden under scaffolding since October 2016!). The venue has just re-opened after an extensive refurbishment and what a venue it is. For standing receptions and banquet dinners up to 400 guests, no one could fail to be in awe of the floor to ceiling painted masterpiece by Sir James Thornhill, who spent 19 years perfecting his masterwork. Greenwich Pier leads directly onto the site with the King William Colonnade offering an ideal space for a summer drinks reception surrounded by stunning architecture. For the colder months, one of the original and surprisingly contemporary Undercrofts (pictured) is a wonderful alternative with the big reveal of The Painted Hall left for the main event.

CH&Co are the contracted caterers at The Old Royal Naval College and what an amazing night they hosted! Dinner was set along two long banquet tables, making the most of the beautiful surroundings, with everything from the food and wine right down to the service and table settings made to impress. The venue is not available for dry hire so it's great to know the in house catering team do such a fabulous job that you wouldn't want to go to anyone else!

The Painted Hall is, of course, open to the public throughout the day (can't keep it all to ourselves unfortunately) and so the earliest venue hire access to the Hall is 5pm. This is the great thing about venues such as these having contracted suppliers as they become a dab hand at setting up and having everything ready to go in no time at all, meaning you can get on and enjoy your evening!
