Top 3 London Pubs for St Patrick's Day

Monday 9 March 2020

Celebrate St Paddy’s day (Tuesday 17th March) in style this year as we've put together a selection of our favourite Irish pubs in central London, from old-fashioned and traditional to young and trendy.

You can find classic Irish bars all over central London, but we’ve put together only the best places you should head to for your Guinness....

The George Inn

Our new London Bridge local, the National Trust-owned George Inn is certainly one of our top London pubs. It's ancient yet hugely popular, what more can you want? The expansive cobbled courtyard means there is plenty of outdoor space and with the weather warming up, we can all start to enjoy it! Most of the interiors have been recently modernised but there are still a few traces of the past including the grand fireplaces and ancient wood paneling. Being part of the Greene King group, you can guarantee a low priced pint of Guinness!

Waxy O’Connors

A popular choice of course is Waxy O’Connors which is a maze of staircases and passages which link four separate bars over six floors. Named after the famous candlemaker from Dublin, Waxy’s has gained worldwide recognition for its amazing hospitality, friendly staff and it’s all encompassing range of beers, spirits and whiskeys. The pub which opened over twenty years ago features olde-worlde interiors a lot like something from Hogwarts. Rest assured there will be lots of live music and a great atmosphere this St Patrick’s Day at Way O’Connors. Food-wise, the venue serves up traditional pub grub with an Irish twist of course, including the much loved steak and Guinness pie, Irish stews and mussels.

Flatiron Square

Flat Iron Square has been transformed into the London hub for drinking, eating and dancing in the City. The outdoor space is host to a flea market at weekends and various events throughout the year, as well as home to a ski chalet in the winter. Under the arches near the Shard, you’ll find street food stalls offering worldwide cuisines, while next door is a fantastic live music venue Omeara, as well as a tequila bar Cantina and the hidden wine bar Tap & Bottle. Get down to the Garden at Flat Iron Square from 7pm on St Paddy’s day for a traditional Irish knees up which will include the well-known Irish band, Smoke and Derry who will be performing traditional jigs to get you in the mood for a good old dance, Irish-style.
