Afternoon Tea at Marriott Grosvenor House

Wednesday 4 March 2020

Marriott Grosvenor House is one of London’s largest luxury 5* hotels, located on Park Lane in Mayfair. Since opening its doors in 1929, this quintessentially British hotel has been frequented by royalty, celebrities, politicians and business leaders.

Last week the team were kindly invited along to enjoy the popular afternoon tea in the wonderful Park Room. Offering the ultimate in British indulgence, the Park Room offers a distinguished experience to hotel with their afternoon tea, named after Anna the 7th Duchess of Bedford who is responsible for starting the wonderful tradition of Afternoon Tea in the early 1800s.

With huge floor to ceiling glass windows that emphasise the uninterrupted views of Hyde Park, the Park Room offers a seasonal twist on the traditional Afternoon Tea experience featuring hand crafted pastries, the largest selection of teas we have ever seen, all alongside a glass of Ruinart Champagne. Modelled after stately homes throughout the country, the Park Room has a contemporary design and feel, as well as a live pianist playing in the afternoon, which truly offers a tranquil setting to relax, away from busy London life.

The hotel itself offers 423 bedrooms and suites across eight floors, including the magnificent Royal Suite complete with its own executive lounge access, two bathrooms, two dining rooms, a living area and amazing walk in closet all set over 170 square metres and with commanding views of Hyde Park.

In terms of event space, the hotel has a range of expansive, light-filled meeting rooms including one of the largest five star Ballrooms in London, the Great Room, which can seat up to 1,500 guests for dinner or 2,000 guests for a drink’s reception. With its own private entrance on Park Lane, and at 3,147 square feet, it has hosted some of the most significant national events. Additionally, the hotel has a Ballroom with striking chandeliers, grand staircase and with the ability to partition, at 900 square feet it can host up to 550 delegates. A further 29 meeting rooms, ideal for breakouts or catering spaces, means the hotel is able to provide an abundance of possibility for events alongside five star service and superb catering.
