2020's Best London Christmas Themes

The London Christmas Party Show was due to take place last week (12th-13th May 2020). Story Events didn’t want the original dates to go by unacknowledged, so the team put together a range of free online content to keep people engrossed during the lockdown period.

The virtual event #LCPSUnwrapped took place over two days with content for the events industry including seminars, roundtables and fitness classes.


Story Events and Venue Search London shared their picks on the best themes in London for 2020 Christmas parties.


1. The Vaults

Known for its quirky and immersive theatre, this year The Vaults, is turning into a hidden world of witches, wizards and magical misfits!  The Yule Tide Ball will transform each room for this immersive party and guests can journey through potion classes, the dark magic hall and of course the great hall for dinner.


Capacity: 350 max for a seated dinner or up to 1,000 for standing reception


2. Fountain Room 

Located in the heart of the West End close to Bloomsbury, The Fountain room’s 2020 theme is “Diamonds are forever”. You can expect lots of glitz and glamour under the starlit venue with packages including a lounge singer and photobooth!


The large Christmas party venue can host up to 350 guests for dinner or 400 for a standing reception.


3. 8 Northumberland

You can expect tonnes of colours this year at 8 Northumberland, the venue is known for their extensive production and theming during the Christmas party season. This their theme is “The King of Hearts Ball” and “The Wondrous Wonderland”


Capacity: 250-500 seated dinner or up to 700 for standing reception.


4. Swan at Shakespeare's Globe

The space is iconic and theatrical and this year’s theme “A Fairy Tale Grimm” is  inspired by the magic and folktales within an enchanted forest. 


Capacity: 350 guests for a dinner / dance or up to 450 standing.


5. The Prince

Although the venue isn’t technically themed, it is very much known for it’s foliage interior which brings the outside in. The Story events team discussed during our webinar how you could enhance the decor to create your own themes such as “Neon Jungle”.


Capacity:up to 800 guests for a standing reception.

6. The Montague on the Gardens

Each year this London Hotel transforms their venue into an incredible Ski Lodge from November through December. You can book individual or group passes, or enjoy the area for pre-dinner drinks. With pine trees, falling snow, reindeer, snowmen, ski racks, piste maps and strings of fairy lights and lanterns. 


The space can host up to 200 for a standing reception.


7. Tobacco Dock

Stepping into The Roaring Twenties this year at Tobacco Dock. The East London venue will be transforming the iconic venue into the ultimate speakeasy with live bands and entertainment.


Capacity: 200 to 5,000.


8. Exhibition London 

A brand new venue which opened in Autumn 2019, this year although the venue will no be fully themed there will be light festive decor and fully packaged with a huge amount of AV and production for what would normally be a dry hire venue. The venue has a huge amount of Victorian character with high ceilings and tiled walls. Story Events spoke about their experience dressing this venue!


9. 

Evolution London

Now a permanent event venue, Evolution London is going down a less commercial route in terms of their theming. Carnivale will explore the celebrations of Mardi Gras, Calypso and Samba throughout: from the drummers welcoming guests on arrival to the giant skeletons and South American martial artists.


Capacity: The large Christmas party venue can host up to 2,000 for a seated dinner or 4,000 for a standing reception.

10. The Brewery

Chiswell Valley High brings you “Enchantment Under the Ocean”. The Brewery is known for it’s quirky theme which each year takes over the entire venue. With this theme you can really go down two different routes 1950’s / Grease or fully indulge in Enchantment Under the Ocean.
