With our glorious capital city opening up once again, we're delighted to be out visiting new hotels and venues popping up all over town. Our latest venture was with Shiva Hotels; we toured, wined and dined at the beautiful Middle Eight in Covent Garden and The Guardsman in St James.
The Guardsman
Whether you have a new product to launch, an incentive trip, or a company away day, The Guardsman in St James is perfect for an exclusive hire. With 53 luxurious bedrooms, six larger private suites, a restaurant offering local and sustainably sourced menus, and glamorous entertaining spaces, The Guardsman can accommodate intimate groups in comfort and style.
The Guardsman exclusive hire includes The Drawing Room, The Library and The Dining Room and Bar, as well as the private terraces belonging to the suites.
The top three floors of The Guardsman are split into six private residences (suites) and offer a unique space for events. With rooftop terraces, private dining options and intimate spaces for entertaining smaller groups, these residences can be hired as part of The Guardsman exclusively, or individually for more intimate events.
Unlike others, The Guardsman's Dining Room & Bar is not open to non-residential guests, giving the hotel a truly exclusive feel. Whether you want a lazy brunch or a late night dinner, the restaurant is always open. The menus are developed from seasonal produce from carefully selected suppliers, sourced locally where possible.
Following a tour of The Guardsman, we made our way over to Middle Eight in Covent Garden...
Middle Eight
The Middle Eight hotel is the new jewel of Great Queen Street in Covent Garden. Formerly known as The Kingsway Hotel, the property has undergone an extensive multi-million pound refurbishment, and transformed into a luxury home away from home. Beneath the hustle and bustle, on the lower ground floor, you'll find QT Bar, designed with a modern take on the classic Speakeasy. At weekends, the late night venue will come alive with live music and comedy performances. Mid-week the venue will be available for exclusive hire, offering an ideal space for a Christmas party or an office reunion for approx 100 guests standing, with occasional relaxed furniture. With a large pull down screen - built to professional cinema standards, The QT Bar can also be sectioned off and transformed into a cosy screening space, perfect for meetings, presentations or private film viewings.
On street level, The Sycamore Restaurant & Bar offers an impressive and stylish space for exclusive hire. The food and extensive Negroni menu delivers an extensive (and delicious!) authentic Italian experience; with small dishes from the cicchetti counter (think Italian tapas), handmade pizzas, hand-rolled pasta and fresh baked bread on offer.
The bedroom categories range from Cosy Pad, Classic Chic, Urban Deluxe, Superior Street to Executive style. Having visited each different category, we can safely say that the style, standard and space that every category offers is rarely found in the centre of London.
