Venue Search London have partnered with Green Meetings and Greengage to drive awareness and improvements in the sustainability of event venues and the 200+ live events we place into London venues each year. We have also achieved Carbon+ accreditation for our own operations.
Working with these two organisations, we have created a “Green Leaf” icon system on our London Venue listings to demonstrate venues’ journey and achievements towards hosting more sustainable events in London, where three leaves is equivalent to God or Platinum certification on either platform, two leaves for Silver and one leaf for Bronze.

VSL achieves Carbon+ Accreditation
As part of our support of a more sustainable UK events industry, we have recently been awarded a Carbon Plus certification from leading carbon reduction consultants, Carbon Footprint.
Our annual carbon footprint has been calculated to cover the team’s business and commuting travel, home-working and office energy consumption from the last 12 months and we have offset twice this estimate via two of their Gold Standard offsetting schemes.
The first is a UK tree planting scheme which mainly plants in school locations, helping to educate children and support wildlife habitats whilst sequestering carbon emissions. For each tCO2e offset, one tree is planted in the UK and an additional tCO2e is offset through a VCS Tree Buddying project to guarantee the emission reductions.
The second supports international community projects within developing countries that have strong additional benefits beyond reducing carbon emissions. These include health benefits, saving low-income families money and reducing deforestation, all certified to the Gold Standard and include efficient household cook stoves and clean drinking water projects.

Now they have created a Green Meetings, a new standard specific to meetings and events venues. 700 venues and hotels across the UK are already using the Green Tourism standard to provide reassurance to corporate event buyers' procurement teams.

Greengage’s ECOsmart is a leading accreditation system for hotels, meeting venues, short stay apartments and pubs with meeting rooms. It is increasingly recognised as the credible and affordable marque that organisations can display to demonstrate their commitment to environmental sustainability and achievement of recognised standards.
