The Dorchester has long been a loved London icon. Built in 1931, this luxurious hotel has embraced and celebrated the vibrant spirit of our eclectic city for close to a century and now, we take a peek inside their stunning refurbishment...
Renovating a listed building is no mean feat, so naturally the hotel have called upon the most renowned names in architecture and design to embark on their journey of transformation. The designers are reimagining the interiors from classic to contemporary, retaining its established charm, while combining modern colours and upgrades for the modern day guest. An institution in its own right, the bar is being refashioned by Martin Brudnizki with the glamour of the 1930s setting the tone.
From the moment you pass through the lobby, the allure of The Promenade has always greeted guests with a grand sense of arrival into the heart of the hotel. Its new light and airy appeal will be designed to draw you into a selection of diverse culinary experiences, from The Grill, to Alain Ducasse, to China Tang and, of course, their renowned afternoon tea offering.
A brand new space, Cake & Flowers, will be dedicated to showcasing the talents of their in-house designer florist, Philip Hammond, and executive pastry chef, Michael Kwan. From its own dedicated entrance on the corner of the hotel, the boutique’s window displays are set to become the talk of Mayfair, filled with signature cakes and pastries, beautiful bouquets, and gorgeous gift ideas including hampers, champagne and artisan chocolates. A perfect 'shop window' from which to explore the enhancements you may want to add to your next event at the hotel.
Of course, an iconic hotel needs an iconic Ballroom; and The Dorchester's Ballroom is larger than people might imagine! This is a room that has seen remarkable events and extraordinary guests, and accommodates up to 1,000 guests for a standing cocktail reception or 510 for a seated dinner. From legendary Christmas parties to the world’s most spectacular dinners, The Ballroom has played host to some of the most glamorous moments in history.
The elegant bedrooms and suites will feature relaxing hues of pale leaf green and rose fog pink, to heather blue and lemon yellow, with the soft tones offering a sense of calm and relaxation, while residing in the hub of Park Lane.
