In addition to new London venue openings there are also many refurbished London venues that have been transformed by new owners or investment which would be can be used for conferences, meetings and parties.
There is, without doubt, real added value and genuine excitement in hosting one of the first events to be staged at a brand new London venue, since it will add interest and anticipation for the invited guests and could also generate additional publicity for product launches and charity fundraising events!
However, there are also a few potential pitfalls that are best avoided here:
Only contract a new London venue when you are certain that it will be finished in time for your event and that they have the premises licence and other permissions in place.
There are often teething problems with the first few events at any new London venue, so make sure that their catering is fully operational and that any production you may require is deliverable either in-house or using external suppliers (for whom it may be their first event in the venue too!)
Make sure that you allow additional time in planning the event, since you may well be working with a new venue operations team, who may not be fully up to speed with the venue.
