VSL Take a Trip to The Other House...

Wednesday 17 April 2024

The Other House Reception The Other House Owl and Monkey Bar

Perfectly located in the heart of South Kensington, The Other House has transcended the traditional hotel experience, offering guests a blend of apartment-style living and exclusive members club access.

Since opening in July 2022, this gorgeous venue has emerged as a stylish, sophisticated and lavish destination in West London's hospitality scene. Formerly 11 historic townhouses, the cluster of buildings has been reimagined into a collection of one, two, and three-bedroom Club Flats, each with their very own kitchen and living area. Communal areas feature a sophisticated bar, The Owl & Monkey, an all-day café, The Other Kitchen, and a members' club lounge space; along with a screening room, co-working space, and a wellness area and pool.

The Other House is rewriting the rulebook with the introduction of a new and innovative concept, combining a hotel, members’ club and private residences into what they’re labelling “a residents’ club”; catering for both long and short stay guests. Imagine a fusion of urban living with the exclusivity of a private members club, all accessible to residents without the need for an ongoing membership. It's a bold, intriguing concept that exudes coolness and places a large emphasis on lifestyle living and sustainability.

Each of the Club Flats are stylish and slick yet cosy and inviting, decked out in calming colours like deep greens and intense blues, with pops of reds and yellows which draw your eye at every turn. All rooms feature marble showers, fully equipped kitchens, and stationary desks. The decorative separation screens that divide the sleeping and living areas, provide a seamless flow from one space into the next; all whilst providing a sense of separation from one another.

The venue features a selection of private meeting and dining rooms which are available to privately hire for events. The Francis Bacon Room demonstrates creativity and imagination, providing a quaint setting for up to ten guests. For an even more intimate setting, the Mervyn Peake room offers seating for eight, ideal for smaller gatherings or business meetings. For those seeking a touch of elegance, The Library presents an inviting space for up to ten people, perfect for standing receptions or smaller one-to-one discussions away from the main plenary room. In addition to the private rooms, The Other House offers the option to hire sections of The Other Kitchen and The Owl and Monkey bar, as well as select private members' spaces, upon request.

The House is the first of several residents’ clubs the lifestyle brand plans to open in our capital, with the second London location set for Covent Garden. The Other House will consist of seven historic buildings, including a former rectory. Similar to the Kensington property, the new opening will offer the signature Club Flats, plus a cocktail bar, a casual street café, and most excitingly a rooftop bar.

We believe The Other House stands as a testament to the power of blending heritage with innovation, tradition with modernity and lifestyle living with luxury accommodation. By infusing the venues surroundings with a sense of purpose and charm, this new concept is reshaping the hospitality market by combining the comforts of apartment-style living with the convenience of hotel services and exclusive private member’s club amenities. This breakthrough approach is impressive and we believe it will begin a shift within the luxury London hotel market.
