Centerplate win catering contract at re-opened Olympic venue
Wednesday 5 March 2014
Centerplate’s UK division – formerly The Lindley Group - has been selected by GLL and London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) to manage all of the public and event catering at the new Copper Box Arena.
The Copper Box Arena hosted the handball and modern pentathlon fencing events at the London 2012 Olympic Games. The Olympic legacy lives on as the unique arena has recently reopened its doors as east London’s newest and most versatile events venue, right in the heart of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
With a maximum capacity of 7,500, Copper Box is London’s third largest arena. It hosts a variety of sporting, cultural, community and entertainment events, including concerts, charity dinners, exhibitions, awards ceremonies and conferences.
With all seating fully retracted, the main hall offers 2,700 square metres of space. In terms of layout, theme and décor, clients have complete freedom to design events to suit their specific needs. Centerplate will also manage the sales and marketing for conferences, dinners and events.
The 10-year contract has been awarded to Centerplate following a competitive tender which required caterers bidding for the contract to demonstrate their commitment to supporting the lasting legacy of the 2012 London Olympics.
